MIKE’S WORDS

After starting out in cover bands Mike teamed up with local rockers “Sons of Trout” in the mid-nineties.

Over a period of 7 years he recorded 3 albums and toured the country extensively - including appearances on the Namibian and London music circuits. Having become well acquainted with Schalk and Tim through the industry, he suggested that the 3 of them start up a new project together. Mike’s girlfriend, Dani, put forward the idea of including Dave into the line-up. Dave and Mike were good mates back in the music thriving capital of Observatory around the time of “Shooting Corine”, “Zap Dragons” and “Nine”. JACKPOT!!!

A recipe for what is proving to be a huge success in the making!

TIM’S WORDS

Started music career with “Dorp” in 1990. Has since then played with most of SA’s recording artists.

After touring with “Sons of Trout”, Tim met Mike and agreed to venture into a new project with him, now known as Bed on Bricks. His influences are drummers such as Stuart Copeland, Carter Beauford and Manu Kache. Tim is currently playing DW drums and Zildjian cymbals.

DAVE’S WORDS

Music has been with dave as long as he can remember, on violin, clarinet and guitar. The first 14 years on earth was all about classical training and a love for old school jazz.

Then he discovered skateboarding, rock and roll, booze , ting, girls and life’s pleasureable taboos. The violin and clarinet where swopped almost instantly for a loud amp, an electric guitar and a stomp box. Dave formed and played in various bands starting with cold turkey, da ing, the racous halleluia chorus, rice and shooting corine. That left him a bit burned out, so, he hung up the guit, went travelling, tried out normality.

After all sorts of normal jobs, and playing a bit on the sideline with paul in the originally named duo, Dave and Paul, and a band called the lfo’s (low flying ostriches), he met the guys from Bed on Bricks. He is now a firm believer in following the heart, and juicing life and its true callings.
